Building a Rain Garden at Linworth - Picture This! Earth Day 2009
Thanks for coming out to make our Rain Garden.
Here are some pictures from the day's work.
Also, thanks to @JodyNColumbus for taking and posting these additional pictures
======= Original Event Information =======
On Saturday April 18th at 10am, Columbus Green Life will plant a 500 square-foot Rain Garden at Linworth High School for its first annual Earth Day event.
The rain garden, donated by Custom Image Landscaping and Mr. Mulch, will divert up to 36,000 gallons of rainwater runoff from city sewer systems annually and prevent untreated wastewater from entering local streams and rivers. Ohio’s combined sewer systems, which overflow raw sewage into local water ways during heavy rainfall, make sustainable drainage systems invaluable to the health and safety of community members and native ecology.
Volunteers from the school and community will get hands-on sustainable landscaping education and are invited to the Picture This Earth Day Celebration at Goodale Park the following day. All of CGL's volunteer hours will be counted towards Picture This' effort to make central Ohio's city-wide Earth Day project the largest in the nation!
Please Contact Us if you would like to attend/volunteer.

Saving The World @ Work (Without Pulling a Muscle)
Ditch the plastic: Every year Americans consume 30 billion single-serving containers of bottled water, 380 billion plastic bags and enough plastic film to shrink wrap Texas. A bottled water ban in the office is a good starting place in the move towards a Green office.
